Full moon Buff'ed cocktail

Yes, I'm known as the Buff chef but I also love mixing a good drink. When those two worlds collide -- AND include Buff Boy Brewing coffee in the process -- hold onto your beans cuz we're headed for some fun!

There’s something uniquely satisfying about creating a cocktail that embodies a mood or a moment. I've come up with a recipe that perfectly encapsulates the intriguing mystery of a moonless night, a drink I've affectionately named the fool moon Buff'ed cocktail. It's sophisticated (like we pretend to be), a little intense (like we generally are), and utterly delightful (meh, half and half)– especially for those who appreciate a deep, rich flavor profile.

Every great cocktail has a star ingredient that elevates it beyond the ordinary. For this, the star is our Buff coffee. OK, let me brag a bit. Our various blends have exceptionally bold yet remarkably smooth character that provide an unparalleled depth. Our flavor profiles don't just add a coffee note; they lay down a robust, nuanced foundation that balances beautifully with the other spirits, preventing the drink from becoming overly sweet or one-dimensional.

Using our Chill-Brew Buff'ed Coffee is crucial here – it truly makes all the difference in achieving that deep, luxurious taste.

Here's what you'll need:

Ingredients:

2 oz. (60 ml) Buff Boy coffee (chilled, strong brew or cold brew)
1.5 oz. (45 ml) premium dark rum (a spiced rum also works wonderfully for an added layer of complexity. We can't name other brands but you know the major ones.)
0.75 oz. (22 ml) coffee liqueur
0.25 oz. (7 ml) dark chocolate liqueur (optional, but highly recommended for extra depth)
    Ice
For Garnish: A few whole coffee beans (seriously!) or a twist of orange peel

Instructions:

Chill Your Glass: Begin by chilling a coupe or old-fashioned glass. A cold glass ensures your cocktail stays perfectly frosty.
Combine Ingredients: In a cocktail shaker, combine the chilled Buff coffee, dark rum, coffee liqueur and dark chocolate liqueur (if using).
Add Ice and Shake: Fill the shaker with plenty of fresh ice. Secure the lid tightly and shake vigorously for about 15-20 seconds. You want to make sure the ingredients are well-chilled and thoroughly integrated.
Strain and Serve: Double strain the mixture into your pre-chilled glass. I like to double strain to ensure a silky-smooth texture, free of ice shards.
Garnish: Garnish with a few whole coffee beans floating on top, or express the oils from an orange peel over the drink and drop it in. The subtle citrus aroma pairs surprisingly well with the dark notes.

My Serving Tip:

I find this cocktail is best enjoyed slowly, allowing its complex layers to reveal themselves with each sip. It’s the perfect nightcap or a sophisticated indulgence for an evening spent unwinding, especially when you're looking for something a bit richer than your usual go-to.

Cheers to dark, delicious nights!
