Tapping into the Tab

I'll admit I'm not the biggest techie. In fact, if I could just keep all of the current technology I have now and never upgrade, I'd be just fine with that. Alas, that's not the world we live in.

I'm one of those people who will try out a new gadget to see if it lends anything to my everyday life. Did I need a new tablet? No. But, I was willing to try Lenovo Idea Tab Pro to see if I could figure out a way to include it in my day-to-day life.

This tablet promises a premium experience with its sleek design, powerful performance and focus on both productivity and entertainment. But does it truly deliver? After spending a few weeks putting it through its paces, I've been impressed with how it works.

The tablet boasts a stunning 11.5-inch OLED display with a crisp 2.5K resolution. The colors are vibrant, the blacks are deep, and the visuals are simply breathtaking. Watching movies and shows on this screen is a real treat, and even browsing through photos feels more immersive. The slim bezels further enhance the viewing experience, making it feel like you're holding just a screen.

Beyond the gorgeous display, the Idea Tab Pro feels well-built and solid. The aluminum alloy chassis gives it a premium feel, and the overall design is clean and modern. It's comfortable to hold, although the larger size might make it a bit unwieldy for single-handed use for extended periods.

Under the hood, the Idea Tab Pro packs a punch with its Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 processor. This chip is more than capable of handling everyday tasks like browsing the web, checking emails and streaming videos without breaking a sweat. I also tested it with more demanding activities like gaming and video editing, and it performed admirably. While it might not be quite as powerful as some flagship tablets, it offers a smooth and responsive experience for most users.

One of the key selling points of the Idea Tab Pro is its focus on productivity. Lenovo offers an optional keyboard and stylus that transform the tablet into a capable two-in-one device. The keyboard attaches magnetically and provides a comfortable typing experience, making it ideal for writing documents, emails or even coding on the go. The stylus is equally impressive, offering precise input and pressure sensitivity for drawing, note-taking and annotating documents.

I found myself using the keyboard and stylus quite frequently for work-related tasks. The ability to quickly jot down notes during our Buff meetings, edit documents while sitting in the backyard on a sunny day, and even create simple graphics on the go was a game-changer. While it might not completely replace a laptop for complex tasks, the Idea Tab Pro offers a compelling alternative for users who prioritize portability and convenience.

Of course, no device is perfect, and the Idea Tab Pro has a few drawbacks. The battery life, while decent, could be better. I found myself needing to charge it every day with moderate usage. Also, while the speakers are decent, they lack a bit of bass and don't quite match the quality of the display.

Another area where the Idea Tab Pro could improve is the software. It runs on Android, which is a versatile operating system, but Lenovo's custom skin feels a bit clunky and adds some unnecessary bloatware. While it's not a deal-breaker, I would have preferred a cleaner and more streamlined Android experience.

Despite these minor shortcomings, I believe the Lenovo Idea Tab Pro is a compelling tablet that offers a lot for the price. The stunning display, powerful performance and focus on productivity make it a versatile device that can be used for both work and play. If you're looking for a tablet that can keep up with your busy lifestyle, the Idea Tab Pro is definitely worth considering.
