(Not) large and in charge

As someone who's often double-fisting phones (my own, and on the days I'm tasked with monitoring the Buff phone), it's a constant pain to keep monitoring battery levels so I'm not running low without a charger when I'm out and about.

So, that's where Anker MagGo Power Bank comes in to keep me fully juiced -- well, my phones, anyway -- when I've got a busy day ahead.

The first thing that struck me about the Anker MagGo was its sleek and compact design. I opted for the 5,000-mAh model, which is incredibly lightweight and barely adds any bulk to my pocket. Its most defining feature, of course, is the MagSafe compatibility. The magnets are surprisingly strong, providing a secure attachment to the back of my phone. I've walked around, used my phone actively, and even shaken it gently, and the power bank stayed firmly in place, giving me great confidence that it wouldn't accidentally detach.

What truly elevates the MagGo experience for me is the integrated foldable kickstand. This seemingly small addition makes a world of difference. Whether I'm on a plane, on the back deck, or just unwinding in bed, I can effortlessly prop up my phone in either portrait or landscape mode while it charges wirelessly. It's perfect for watching videos, making video calls or simply keeping an eye on notifications without having to hold my device.

In terms of performance, the MagGo has been reliable. The 7.5-W wireless charging, while not lightning-fast like a wired connection, is perfectly adequate for topping up my phone's battery throughout the day. It effectively prevents my phone from dying during critical moments. I've found it can typically provide about one full charge for my phone from a low percentage, which is precisely what I need for extending my day. For faster charging or for other devices, there’s also a USB-C port that offers 12-W wired charging, adding to its versatility. Recharging the MagGo itself is straightforward via its USB-C port, and it charges up reasonably quickly.

While I'm largely impressed, there are minor considerations. As with any wireless charging, it generates a little heat, but nothing concerning. Also, if you need multiple full charges for a larger phone or a different device, you might consider Anker's higher capacity MagGo models. But for a daily top-up and seamless convenience, the 5,000-mAh version hits the sweet spot.

Overall, the Anker MagGo Power Bank has become an indispensable part of my everyday carry. It perfectly blends convenience, portability and functionality, making on-the-go charging far less of a hassle. For a phone user looking for a reliable, magnetic power bank with the added bonus of a kickstand, I can confidently say this device is an excellent investment.
