CRUISIN' WITH DIANA
For 25 years, she's been cruisin'!
A full-day boat cruise with the sun glistening, the tunes blasting and the drinks poured -- and it's only 9:30 a.m. What more could you ask for on vacation? Diana's Tour is the perfect way to spend a day out on (and in) the water. Go with a group of friends or on your own, you'll feel welcome no matter what.
After cruising for a bit, it's time to take a dip. Just when your body gets comfortable in the water, Diana starts feeding fish all around you -- scary at first, fascinating next. From there it is enjoying the open waters before taking in lunch at a private beach and a little more dancing on the boat.
As any marine-based tour operator will tell you, nothing is guaranteed when it comes to water conditions or weather. So, my experience and how my tour played out with such perfection, while common, not guaranteed. But the vast majority of people taking in the seasonal cruises have an exceptional time.
STAY IN STYLE
There are plenty of places to stay in Puerto Vallarta but our boss has two favorites: Marriott properties (because our parent company has a business relationship with them!) and Casa Cupula (because the founder, Don Pickens, has been on the radio with our boss many times and it's also a wonderful property). Still, I'm welcome to express my opinion on anything without interference from the folks in the Canadian office. And I have to say: Casa Cupula is amazing!
What truly sets Casa Cupula apart is its commitment to creating a welcoming and inclusive environment for the LGBTQ+ community. The staff are incredibly friendly and attentive (that's something confirmed by the hundreds of reviews online), making you feel instantly comfortable and at ease. I loved lounging by the pool with a refreshing margarita, surrounded by other guests who were equally relaxed and enjoying the vibrant atmosphere. I was offered a drink shortly after check-in, actually.
Beyond the stunning location and beautiful aesthetics, Casa Cupula offers a range of amenities that cater specifically to the gay traveler. They offer personalized concierge services to help guests explore the best of Puerto Vallarta's gay scene, from the bustling bars and clubs in the Zona Romantica to the hidden beaches and secluded swimming spots.
While the hotel itself is a destination, I also took advantage of its prime location to explore the surrounding city. The Zona Romantica, with its charming shops, art galleries and delicious restaurants, is just a short walk away (down a sloped hill so wear appropriate shoes!).
Casa Cupula isn't just a hotel; it's an experience. It's a place where you can relax, unwind and connect with other travelers in a safe and welcoming environment. If you're looking for a luxurious and unforgettable gay getaway in Puerto Vallarta, I highly recommend adding Casa Cupula to your list.
